About the Network

U3A Network NSW Inc is the licensed representative of The Third Age Trust for U3As located in NSW and several more groups from interstate who all support the general aims and directions of providing life-long learning opportunities for their members in their 'third age' using the skills of their members gained during their 'second age'.

The Third Age Trust owns the U3A trade mark in Australia. The primary object of U3A Network NSW Inc is to assist the U3As operating in its territory to adhere to the fundamental principles of U3A, to conduct their associations in a manner that protects the reputation of U3A and provides a wide range of educational opportunities to their respective members.

Over the last THIRTY years your Network has, with a Member elected Committee, endeavoured to support Member U3As by providing guidance and support by the means of group insurance and copyright services at cost effective rates for U3A members in NSW and to some Interstate groups. We all know that U3A is a great idea and, as volunteers, we have a commitment to being an effective service provider for all member U3As of the U3A Network NSW Inc. This website is a tangible example of the web-hosting service we provide to Members.

We have had some upheaval in your Committee since our April 2021 Annual General Meeting. In accordance with our Constitution your Committee has set in place a process of restructure and, as Member U3As, YOU will be kept informed. Disappointingly our preparations to scope and negotiate our services to you for 2022 have been delayed and your Committee is now ready to devote their time and energy into bringing the outline of service costs for 2022 together as soon as possible for advice to you.

Your Committee also recognises the need for input and feedback and we invite questions, suggestions and constructive criticism. COVID-19 has certainly impacted on our age cohort and with many lockdowns and simply the need for individual caution our Member U3As have faced many problems in 2020 and 2021.

We have used our Constitutional provisions to request the resignation of the President, Secretary and Treasurer of your Network. Individual Network Members have now joined that quest by requisitioning a Special General Meeting. Six of the Committee of 10 agree with the process of invoking the punitive clauses of our Constitution to give your Committee the opportunity to move forward in our planning for the provision of services for you in 2022.
